SX4 S-CROSS CROSSOVER REVIEW: Good value for money is an overused phrase in sports utility crossovers. Yet, the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross proves its worth. It comes with a choice of highly efficient petrol and diesel engine power units.

Perhaps the Vitara model is most popular in Suzuki compact SUV ownership.

But SX4 S-Cross is gaining a huge amount of attention in the niche of small 4x4 cars.

That said, the Vitara and S-Cross share a valuable space in the small 4x4 market.

Both going head-to-head with established models like the Skoda Yeti and Kia Sportage 4x4.

The Suzuki SX4 received its overdue update in 2016.

There are few changes to the underlying car. But the overall makeover enhances its rugged SUV appearance.

The most significant advancement for the new version has to be its 'Boosterjet' engines. They are the same power units that get used in the Suzuki Swift supermini.

Suzuki SX4 S-Cross Crossover ReviewThe Suzuki SX4 S-Cross SUV 4x4 specs are dependent on engine size and fuel type:

The Suzuki SX4 S Cross has several driving modes. One option includes an auto mode for extra grip in the mud and rain. There is also a snow mode option for driving in dangerous winter days.

The SZ-T version has very good specs for standard small 4x4 cars. Top specifications include 17 inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, with front and rear parking sensors. It also boasts a rearview camera, automatic windscreen wiper and light adjustments.

While the SX4 S-Cross is not a true off-roader, it out performs other 4x4 cars like the Dacia Duster.

The inside trim of the SX4 S-Cross is what we have come to expect from Suzuki. If you are in a good mood you might review it as 'cheap and cheerful'. Whereas a different assessment might describe it as 'drab and dull'.

Either way it is well constructed and solidly built. The dashboard display is clear and simple and the steering wheel controls are easy to use.

The base model comes equipped with digital radio and CD player. It also has a USB port facility and Bluetooth. The higher spec models include sat-nav, dual-zone climate control, air-con and an upgraded stereo system.

The rear boot size is about the same as the Nissan Qashqai but bigger than the Skoda Yeti crossover model.

The 2016 redesign certainly makes the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross look more like a SUV crossover car. The handling has plenty of grip which does make it a firm ride.

In our opinion if you are driving long distances the best option would be the 1.6 diesel model. If you decide on the SX4 S-Cross SZ-T diesel it is a lot cheaper than the equivalent Nissan Qashqai or Skoda Yeti.
