"Featherweight Electrics" Unveiled by Former Tesla and Lucid Execs

Former executives from Lucid and Tesla established a car company called "Longbow". The aim of the first-ever British electric sports car manufacturer is simple - to recreate the essence of previous British classics, such as the Jaguar E-Type and the Lotus Elise.

The presence of new niche EV brands in the United Kingdom has resulted in two featherweight models. A shared, hand-built aluminum chassis (not carbon fiber) is seen by many as being a worthy alternative to the Mazda MX-5 Convertible two seater sports car.

Longbow Roadster

The main features of the high-end Roadster coupé are the closed cockpit and its ultra lightweight design. It weighs only 995 kilograms and it can achieve 62 mph (99 km h) from a standstill in 3.6 seconds.

Being built on a tailor-made aluminum chassis results in maximum stiffness and minimal kerb weight, with a manufacturer quoted WLTP range of 280 kilometres (174 miles).

The vehicle is hand-built in the United Kingdom and the company expects to start deliveries in 2026 with an anticipated starting price of £64,995.

Longbow Speedster

Weighing only 895 kilograms, the Speedster is Longbow's open-top model. It can reach 62 mph from a standstill in 3.5 seconds and it has a WLTP range of 442 kilometres (275 miles). The company is limiting production of the Speedster to 150 units.

The vehicle is hand-built in the United Kingdom and the company expects to start deliveries in 2026 with an anticipated starting price of £84,995.
