Chevrolet Tahoe 2022 Review UK

If you're searching for passenger accommodations like a minivan and unparalleled towing capabilities, the Chevy Tahoe 2022 4x4 is worth a second look.

After reading through the specifications in this Chevrolet Tahoe 2022 review you will understand why this large, versatile SUV is difficult to ignore.

What has Changed with the 2022 Tahoe?

The Tahoe is not the largest three-row ute in Chevy's repertoire - that award goes to the Suburban.

Yet, one of Tahoe's attention-grabbing features is being able to choose between three engine options:

It also offers two distinct and diverse trim levels. You might prefer the rugged and robust 'Z71' if you plan on tackling rough terrain. Otherwise, you will find a little more glamour in the High Country model.

Even so, glamour is not cheap. Indeed, you would pay as much for the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe High Country (about £62,000) as you would for the luxurious Lincoln Navigator or the Cadillac Escalade.

Chevy Tweaks the Tahoe Lineup

The most notable updates for the 2022 Chevy Tahoe include new tech (e.g. bigger screens), V-8 options, and new metallic paint colours (e.g. Auburn, Dark Ash, Evergreen Grey).

Let's dive in a bit deeper:

Chevrolet Tahoe 2022 Prices (GBP)

An in-depth review of the 2022 Chevy Tahoe model appears to show that the RST and Z71 models in the middle of the range are the ones that hold the best value for money.

Note: Tahoe starting prices are approximate and determined by other external factors.

The standard four-wheel drive feature on the Z71, along with its Signature package, will be popular with the off roading community in the United Kingdom.

Its rugged appearance and an abundance of off-road equipment makes it stand out from other Chevrolet SUV 4x4 cars. Highlights also include a heated steering wheel, second-row seats, memory settings, blind-spot monitoring, and a panoramic sunroof

2022 Tahoe Engine Power and Performance

Despite being powered by a V-8 for its entirety, a diesel 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine joins Chevy Tahoe's standard 355-hp 5.3-liter and 420-hp 6.2-liter blocks.

Furthermore, buying any of the Tahoe models means it will be equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission - with a choice of rear or all-wheel drive.

The focus of our testing was the Tahoe Z71 version boasting its off-road capabilities. The standard V-8 (with a two-speed transfer case) has traditional 4-wheel drive and twenty-inch wheels with all-terrain tires.

The bottom line is this:

Acceleration was adequate and the brake pedal was firm. The road tester was most impressed by the quiet cabin - even when driving at highway speeds.

Also, the air springs and adaptive dampers featured in the Z71 package allow for manual or automatic adjustment of the ride height.

Interior Trim and Cargo Space

One of the most striking features in this generation of Tahoe is its extra large interior. One of our earlier Chevrolet Tahoe UK car reviews revealed a cramped third row.

The newer model adds close to ten (10) inches of legroom. Moreover, the second-row seats slide both forward and back, providing extra flexibility.

The interior packaging, and its independent rear suspension, creates a load that seems to be lower and flatter.

In fact, the Tahoe's cargo area offers 123 cubic feet of luggage space after folding the second and third row.

Chevrolet decided to go with a push-button-and-slider setup - replacing the old column shifter. But, we had some minor issues with the motorised, retractable centre-console lid. The problem wasn't made easier since the roof contains the housing for the control switch.

Infotainment Features and Safety

The 2022 Tahoe contains a noteworthy increase in infotainment and connectivity features that are robust and help to ensure relaxed driving conditions.

To qualify that statement, the 10.2-inch touchscreen appears in all variants. The new infotainment devices have Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot feature.

You will find no shortage of interior charging ports. The three-row Chevy model offers a rear-seat entertainment system and a powerful Bose audio system. You also get two 12.6-inch displays mounted at strategic points at the back of the front seats.

What about Driver Safety?

The driver-assistance features get an overall safety rating of four stars (max 5) from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The most important safety features include:

2022 Chevrolet Tahoe Fuel Efficiency

Our review concluded that the most fuel-efficient Tahoe is the diesel engine version. The ratings showed 21 mpg for city driving and 28 on the highway.

We found models housing the standard 5.3-liter V-8 as being a little thriftier - especially in the city. Choosing the optional 6.2-liter V-8 may give you a better fuel-efficiency rating (e.g. around 20 mpg on the highway).
